Biography
Terri is Metis originally from the beautiful Red River Valley. She grew up in Selkirk, Manitoba and was blessed with two children. Both of her children are married and they have further blessed her with twelve grandchildren. Ms. Poitras is also a great-grandmother of two. She has called Alberta home since 1980, and currently resides in Edmonton. Ms. Poitras graduated from Red River Community College in 1978, and was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse until 1995. She then found her way to Poundmaker’s Lodge Treatment Centre where she was employed for ten years as an Addictions Counsellor. Terri is grateful for that experience and for every client who touched her life by allowing her into theirs. In January of 2006 Terri came to Nechi and realized one of her dreams. She believes in the work Nechi does and is honored to be a part of it. Through her own training here at Nechi, she was given the knowledge, skills and attitude to help others. It is this gift she hopes to return to the students she works with. Terri knows with the help and guidance of the Creator her experience will be positive and of value. Ms. Poitras looks forward to this leg of her journey and to continue meeting the students whose lives touch hers.
