The Centre

We are located in the city of St. Albert in the province of Alberta. For those of you who have never visited Canada we have cold winters (-30 degrees Celsius is not uncommon) and mild summers (25 degrees Celsius). We are pretty far north for a major Canadian city and often see the northern lights (also known as the Aurora borealis) even in the light bleed from the city. Nechi Institute is housed with Poundmaker's Lodge, a leader in the addictions healing movement. Poundmaker's Lodge, known as Canada's first addictions treatment centre specifically for Aboriginal clients, is now more than 30 years in operation. The building has a cafeteria, main leisure area with pool tables and snack machines, a ceremonial room, and a gymnasium. The surrounding grounds are extensive and walks are encouraged. It is not uncommon to see birds, deer or even moose!

Students have access to a fully equipped computer lab, comfortable sleeping quarters, and satellite T. V., with excellent educational programming.
