Community Wellness Certificate
Nechi Institute has partnered with Keyano College and the Office of the Commissioner of Services for Children and Families (Alberta) to develop this program with a provincial focus. The program goal is to ensure graduates will have the skills necessary for enhancing the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual well being of children and families in their communities by reducing risk factors and increasing protective factors.

The following courses are required for the certificate:
- CWW 101: Health Promotions
- CWW 102: Communicate Effectively
- CWW 103: Professional Development
- CWW 104: Child Development
- CWW 105: Working with Family and Community
- CWW 106: Developing Community Resources
- CWW 107: Program Development
- CWW 108: Program Integration I
- CWW 109: Program Integration II
- CWW 110: Community Integration
The program is for care-givers from various disciplines (child welfare, health centres, school counsellors, addictions programs, mental health workers, youth workers) from First Nation communities, Metis settlements and urban Aboriginal agencies.
The program will also be of interest to those planning a career in Human Services.
Note
- Applicants must possess an Alberta High School Diploma or equivalent with a mark of 50% in English 30 or English 30-1 or 60% in English 33 or English 30-2.
- Applicants will be required to participate in a pre-program interview.
- Mature students, 21 years of age or older, with less than a High School Diploma will be considered for admission based on a reading and writing skills pre-admission test.
- Applicants will be required to participate in a pre-program interview.
Each course in the Community Wellness Certificate Program is approved for 45 hours study credit by the Canadian Council of Professional Certification.
